As I mentioned a couple of months ago, I'll be throwing our first Philosophers' Cocoon party at the Eastern APA next week. Refreshments will be provided in abundance, and every member of the Cocoon is belatedly invited! Guests are also welcome, provided they are accompanied by a fellow Cocooner. All that remains to be determined — besides who will attend — is the date/time of the party. So, on that note, I'll throw it all out to you. When should we hold it? I was thinking the first full night of the conference might be a good time (the evening of the 28th) — but I'm not sure it would be good to conflict with the conference reception (i.e. the "smoker"). Then again, maybe that's the perfect time to hold it, as those of us without interviews could probably use some fun and friends, whereas those with interviews could probably use a stiff drink and respite from the Smoker. 😉

How does one become a member of the Cocoon?
-
One sends me an email at marvan@ut.edu requesting to become a member, along with relevant details (institutional affiliation, status — i.e. grad student, faculty — and, if you have a website, the URL). 😉

Do regular readers and occasional contributors of comments (but who do not want to register as full fledged ‘contributors’ of new content) count as ‘members’? If not, may I request guest status? The smoker on the 28th is, if I recall, the slightly less well-attended reception, so might be a good time to meet. The evening of the 27th might also be a good time to consider an even more casual drink.
