Hi everyone, I have to get my book orders in during the next couple of weeks, and I'm struggling with deciding on what to order for an upper-level undergraduate course on justice. I taught the course a couple of years back, but wasn't very happy with the texts I selected. Does anyone have a syllabus for a course like this that they thought worked particularly well that they would be willing to share? If so, I'd be very appreciative (my email is marvan@ut.edu). Alternatively, if anyone is willing to share some of the texts/articles they assigned in the comments section here, that would be great too!

Many thanks in advance to anyone and everyone willing to help out! 🙂

Have you thought about teaching Iris Marion Young’s posthumous book, Global Challenges: War, Self-Determination and Responsibility for Justice? This is not based on having taught it, but rather on having regrets similar to yours over my choice of material in a similar course. In some ways, it could function as a textbook given that it covers a variety of topics from a variety of angles (mostly critical, but applied to current issues such as Israel-Palestine and Humanitarian Intervention rather than pure abstractions about justice). The book is in paperback, so reasonably priced, and could be supplemented with articles offering different perspectives on the same topics. I understand that you are looking for tested undergraduate material, so I’d be interested to hear if anyone else has taught the book. But in the mean time, it’s worth considering.
