It is curious how variable the time can be one spends at a paper. Some papers take years to finish writing (intermittently, of course), whereas others take just a few weeks to finish and submit. But the feeling of happiness and gratitude that a paper that’s been so long with you is in my experience magnitudes bigger than for a paper that went very quickly through all the steps.

Hi Helen: Absolutely. Some papers and projects are more difficult than others, and it can take years to figure things out. But yes, the happiness and gratitude I felt finally getting this one out were magnitudes above the rest. 🙂
