Yesterday I hosted a guest discussion that I hoped job-candidates would find helpful. Although some readers expressed that they did find it helpful, others expressed some serious concerns. Because this blog's mission is to provide a safe and supportive atmosphere, and my policy as moderator (as expressed in our mission statement) has always been to moderate with an eye to reasonable reader concerns, I elected last night to unpublish the thread. I created this blog many years ago in the sincere hope that a unique and supportive forum like it might contribute positively to the profession, and be of some help to early-career philosophers in particular. Although I have worked very hard over the years to advance and preserve this mission (and take precautions as moderator), it became clear to me yesterday that I should have done a better job. I thank you all (new readers and old) for reading and contributing to our forum, and promise to redouble my efforts to moderate more carefully moving forward.
