I'd like to ask for your advice, fellow Cocooners, on how to deal with a slow and non-responsive journal. This journal (not Mind) has had a paper of mine for more than six months now. I've tried emailing the journal to ask about the status of my paper, but I never got a reply. So what should I do? As I see it, here are my options:
- Submit the paper to another journal without notifying the slow and non-responsive journal.
- Notify the slow and non-responsive journal that I am retracting the paper and then submit the paper to another journal without waiting for a reply.
- Notify the slow and non-responsive journal that I am retracting the paper, wait for a reply, and then submit the paper to another journal.
None of these are ideal, of course. But which, do you think, is the best option given the circumstances?
