The deadlines for submitting PhD applications are approaching. Any advise for applying in 2019? Any recent shifts in how applications are evaluated? Being an international student, how much of that effect my chances positively or negatively? And how to deal with the demands of the GRE?
I've never done grad program admissions, so unfortunately I have no insight to share. But given that a non-trivial number of our readers may be undergraduates or MA students applying to PhD programs, it might be good to hear from people who have served on admissions committees: how do you and the admissions committees you've served on evaluate applicants? Have things changed at all in ways that it might help candidates to know about??
