I am happy to introduce the Cocoon's newest contributor, Katherine ('Kate') JohnsonKate is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Ethics and Social Justice Center at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY. Kate earned her Ph.D. in Philosophy from Loyola University Chicago in 2008. She specializes in ethics, moral epistemology and bioethics. Her research interests focus on ethical and epistemological issues concerning ignorance. In particular, she draws on the lessons we can learn about ignorance from epistemology and applies it to ethical discussions about moral responsibility. In addition to studying the limits of the excusing force of ignorance, she is currently investigating in what ways ignorance may in fact be beneficial to moral agency.
