In our newest "how can we help you?" thread, a reader asks:
I'm anticipating having a nursing infant during flyout season. How have women with nursing babies approached campus visits, and how has that gone?
This is an excellent question, and I hope that readers with experience choose to share what they did and how things went.
One reader submitted the following reply:
I was not a nursing mother but times are changing – at my former state college, we had nursing rooms in some buildings. People now know that motherhood is normal … can you imagine?! Philosophers have an infinite capacity to change with the times.
I know that my university has nursing rooms as well, and that we of course more than happy to set extra time aside in a visiting candidate's schedule for childcare. But obviously, neither of these comments really address the OP's query, which is how candidates like her have approached campus visits, and how it's actually gone for them.
Do any readers with job-market experience while nursing babies care to weigh in?
