American Association of Philosophy Teachers Studies in Pedagogy is an anonymously peer-reviewed annual journal dedicated to publishing thematically focused volumes of original works on teaching and learning in philosophy. Each issue is on a special topic with a different guest editor.
For the next volume, we are seeking traditional essays, short personal reflections, and practical resources about the topic of Teaching in Hostile Contexts. How do we successfully teach, learn, and support each other when we face hostility stemming from governmental restrictions, unsupportive institutional policies, or other forces? We're looking to publish traditional articles, shorter/less formal reflection pieces, and practical resources for advocacy/organizing, and are open to a wide range of approaches.
Speaking as guest editor, I think the topic of loneliness in the profession of philosophy teaching — whether reflections on the nature of such loneliness, strategies or advice for combatting loneliness, or something else – would be a great fit for the special issue.
