In our new “how can we help you?” thread, a reader asks:
I’m moving from the US to Europe. How do I find regular philosophy conferences in the area? Majority on philevents seem to be US based. Also, are there conferences in Europe which typically result in journal publications after? (e.g. In the US, there’s Madmeta, WiNE, Chapel Hill Normativity Workshop, that all lead to a publication).
Any helpful tips from readers?
I would suggest joining the PHILOS-L mailing list, most events as well as calls for contributions are advertised there. Depending on the OP’s, AoS there are many European societies organizing conferences every year or two years (ECAP, EPSA, ESPP etc) as well as national or regional ones that welcome international participation. Some of these also have special issues for selected contributions.
A lot of events are advertised via the philos-L list so I’d strongly recommend subscribing. Some workshops happen regularly, check the relevant societies in your domain and country (examples: Society for Applied Philosophy Annual Conference; EURSAFE conference; European Congress of Analytic Philosophy; German Society for Analytic Philosophy; nordic society for [choose your specialisation area] etc.). Most conferences do not result in journal publications but there are a few exceptions.
Most conferences in my area (Metaethics) are either posted on philevents, or the philosL mailing list.
None of the big Metaethics conferences in Europe lead to publication AFAIK. There are conferences that run yearly though e.g Groningen every April, Fankmeta every June.

The vast majority of conferences will be announced on Philos-L. There’s a number of recurring conferences, but many of them are more specialized. E.g. for political philosophy there’s the ASPP conference, MANCEPT, SAP conference, Braga meetings, Dortmund Disputes, PPE conference, ECPR, and probably a couple more.
PHILOS-L mailing list is the best for European events
If you are interested in philosophy of science consider EPSA and BSPS conferences, but also SPSP. There are also many good specialized conferenes in the philosophy of science in … chemistry, the social sciences, economics, etc. And the Vienna Circle Institute is great if you are interested in th history of our field
